7th Annual International Education Week
(Message from Wendell Sparks)
This week is the seventh annual International Education Week. The U.S. State Department is celebrating the importance of international education and exchange. This week Secretary of Education, Margaret Spellings and Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs, Dina Powell will lead a delegation of U.S. university and college presidents to Japan, Korea, and China to demonstrate the broad range of U.S. higher education opportunities and encourage the continued flow of international students to the United States.
Each year more than 555,000 students from all over the world come to the U.S. to study in order to gain a better understanding of this country and get a U.S. higher education. At the same time, nearly 200,000 U.S. students study abroad each year, improving their language skills and gaining a better understanding of life in the countries where they study.
Please look at the International Education Week exhibit in the OB Lobby showcase. Wednesday, the 15th The International Student Association will have its International Education Day in the AT Lobby from 11a.m. - 2 p.m. Our international students will bring items and clothes from their many countries to exhibit. Experience the world and join us. Tell your students to come and experience cultures of the world!
